Speak to any security expert and they will tell you that you shouldn’t write your usernames, passwords, or PIN down anywhere as it is the most obvious security risk. I know that people do and in the past I have done this myself.

However, in the case of my Flickr account I didn’t. When I created the account it was just at Flickr. They didn’t have anything to do with Yahoo! then and all was peachy.

I had my browser save the password with an automatic logon, like you do. I’ve never had a problem. Until June 28 that is. That day I decided to kill off all my saved passwords, history and cache in an attempt to solve a problem I was having with my blog.

Of course, this killed my Flickr password. I have tried various logins and the one login that works only works for Yahoo!. This then tells me that I can merge my Yahoo account with my Flickr account. Only I can’t. It doesn’t recognise the details that I enter for Flickr.

So, on the 28th I sent a query to Flickr. Bear in mind that I searched Flickr for ages trying to solve my problem before doing so. A couple of minutes later I get a reply from them:

Just a quick email from Team Flickr to let you know that
we’ve successfully received your recent Help by Email query
and we hope to respond within 3 days.

We’d also like to take an opportunity to remind you that
same issue make the Magic Donkey cry.

Not wanting to make the “Magic Donkey” cry, I have been a patient boy and waited. And waited. And waited. Forget the donkey, I want to get into my Flickr account please. I paid for this service, and while the fuck up was entirely mine, it would be nice to get some help so that I can actually USE the damned service rather than just have it sit there doing nothing!

If you are listening Yahoo people or Flickreenos, PLEASE HELP!

Update: Sorted. I took an educated guess at the Yahoo! ID and the password and the system let me in. I have now written the username down (I can remember the password!) for safe keeping. I guess I’m screwed if we have a break in though!

So, apparently Thunderbird can only handle about 2000 (yes, two thousand) emails in one folder.

I get a little slack in clearing out old emails and getting a little fed up with the time it takes to load the inbox I thought I’d sit here for a few minutes and clear the old guff out. Forum notifications – replies, new members and private messages, blog responses and contact along with the private emails and silly stuff that everyone receives, nothing is sacred.

I have spent about 20 minutes trying to delete mails now. The client is crashing, hanging and not showing the messages. Still, I much prefer it the the major alternative of Outlook. Before you mention it, Incredimail is not an email client, it’s a pile of shit that should never have been launched, let alone left to fester for so long without the developers being shot!

If I were graded for my housekeeping I would probably get a D- with “must try harder” written in 24 point Ariel.

Oops…

Update: Oops again. The above may be entirely untrue. In a magnificient display of stupidity I went to check on the Thunderbird website for updates. Version 2.04 available. Let’s see what I’m running…. 1.002. Not any more!

So, first the tickets, then the badges off the MG and now my mobile phone has died.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!

I’m guessing that not many people can get a puff of smoke from their mobile phone. I can! I charged it this morning, plugged it in to the PC to get a photo off it and puff. It switched off, never to receive a phone call again.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

So, I phoned Vodaphone this afternoon to enquire about an upgrade. Four different menus, two wrong passwords and lots of buttons pressed and I got (a human, not a recording!):

“I’m sorry, all our systems are down at the moment. Would you like a call back?”

I opted to phone a couple of hours later. I’ve just phoned them again with the same result. I opted for the callback this time so they will call me either tomorrow or Monday. So, while I wait for their call, does anyone have any recommendations for a decent mobile? The only stipulations are:

1. It MUST be a Nokia.
2. It must play MP3s.

I am swaying towards the 6288 at the moment. I rather like the sound of the 3.2mp camera on the Sony Ericsson k800i but am worried about the ease of use of the menus. I’ve always had Nokias and the only time I strayed was to a Samsung E700 which I hated.

Most will not have heard of this so I will give a quick overview. Hampshire and the Isle Of Wight has, for the last 10 months or so been running a new service called 101. It’s an alternative to 999. It is meant for the less urgent requirement for emergency services. Chavs hanging about, excessive noise, reporting vandalism etc. A report in February 07 said that the Hampshire 101 service had taken <footnote>I believe, I can’t find a source on the net right now to confirm</footnote> 145,000 calls from the public.

That number went up by one more tonight. I know this because I used the service to report a crime. A crime against humanity. A crime against all intelligent people the world over. More importantly, a crime against my MG.

We went to a friend’s wedding reception this evening, left about nine, got takeaway, came home and ate. About ten past ten I couldn’t find my cigarettes so went back to the Astra to check if they were in there. Unfortunately not. Walking back to the garage, just like I always do I glanced at the MG to admire the badges. Except that I couldn’t. Some expletive I refuse to use on the internet that rhymes with hunt has removed the MG logo, the 180 logo and the flags from the rear and the MG logo from the front grille.

I am pissed. I am very pissed. This isn’t the first time that this has happened. a few months ago (might be 18 by now) the badges were keyed from my Mini. I replaced those but you can still see the key scratches where I can’t afford to get the car painted.

So, the MG now has very similar scratches. I have a couple of issues here:

1. The MG (like the Mini) was specifically targeted. No other car in the area has had their badges removed. Either it was a bored kid or the badges have been stolen to order.
2. I was going to prep the car ready for sale this weekend. I had a quote for the insurance renewal of over £500. I don’t know what to do now.
3. I can’t afford to claim from the insurance to get the badges and paintwork sorted. £200 excess. :(

The very nice guy that took the crime report said that they will probably just file this and count it as a statistic. Fair enough, I didn’t really expect them to do much. I will go ask the neighbours if they maybe saw or heard something.

I have no faith in people any more. Why me?

Anna Nicole had been rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, shortly after 2 p.m. EST after collapsing at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.

Local police were reportedly forced to shut down the streets to expedite rushing her to the hospital.
According to reports, fire crews and emergency personnel performed CPR on Smith and put a tube down her throat.
According to a witness on the scene, when rescue workers arrived, Anna Nicole was unresponsive.
Her bodyguard was also reportedly visibly shaken at the scene.

I’ve never been a great fan but at 39 there’s still so much she could have done for herself and her 5 month old daughter. I can’t , unfortunately, help but wonder if there was some narcotics involved somewhere. Time, and a coroner’s report, will tell.

Rest In Peace Anna.
