You may or may not know that I’m struggling with my Mini at the moment. I took the spark plugs out one at a time this afternoon. Number one was nice and clean (ish!) normal looking. Two, three and four were sooty and black.

What you are looking at above is the block of an engine. Between cylinders two and three is a gap (arrowed) where a chunk of metal is missing from the face. Notice also the scoring down the left hand cylinder. This is number 3 and there’s no way that scoring should be [...]
