There’s been yet another fuss on Facebook today about an Un-named application in your profile, slowing down Facebook.
ALERT >>>>> Has your facebook been running slow lately? Go to “Settings” and select “application settings”, change the dropdown box to “added to profile”. If you see one in there called “un named app” delete it… Its an internal spybot. Pass it on. about a minute ago….i checked and it was on mine.
Indeed, some people have deleted the unnamed application and their FB sessions seem to have speeded up.
Alan Hart has posted information which I am going to quote verbatim in an effort to get this info to as many people as possible:
it is NOT a virus or spyware, it is your “Boxes” tab, and Facebook is going to be getting rid of it soon, you can remove it yourself from your edit applications list if you want… not sure if Facebook will be replacing it with something else yet

So please be careful, it seems that whoever started this facebook “status” is just trying to get people googling and direct you to this harmful page.
So, remove it if you must but it may well screw up something that Facebook is working on for the future. Also, take note of the second paragraph in the quote above, NOT clicking that link is even more important than removing the unnamed app.

Iam sorry for putting this on my profile , I did get rid of mine and has speeded up .will not put anything like that again
my computer is sooo slow that i can type faster than the words can appear on the screen- and i type s-l-o-w! but i do not have any unnamed app on my profile :( any other ideas? thanks!

I have removed the un named app is there anyway of putting it back ….. After I deleted it, my husband told me not to listen to all I read I have learned my lesson!…
Cando – Buy a new computer? Seriously, I think your PC is outdated for what you’re trying to do. Without seeing the PC I couldn’t make any recommendations though.
Dorene and Chris – I believe it’s only the “boxes” thing in your profile that’s affected so don’t worry about it (unless you use “boxes” of course!)
Why can’t I not get in to my apps now? I can get to my profile and the Home page but no where else. Oh two days ago I was all over the place in Facebook? I run windows 98 and my bowser is seamonkey? Oh I’m leaving the question here because I can’t leave one on facebook.
