T-Vodamobile?

Rumours are abound throughout the ‘nets this morning that Vodaphone are looking to take over T-Mobile after Deutsche Telekom is looking for a “teutonic” withdrawal from the UK mobile phone market.

Fair enough, if Deutsche Telekom really want out then so be it.

But, a little advice for Vodaphone:

Don’t do it. T-Mobile sales are down not because of a lack of investment or anything like that, it’s because T-Mobile are shit.

No, really. I know. We had to have a mobile mast installed at my work location because T-Mobile didn’t have coverage to support the business contract we had with them. I am firmly of the belief that this is not uncommon either!

T-Mobile doesn’t have a funky handset like O2 with the iPhone or Vodaphone with the G-Phone (HTC) so what, really, have they got to offer? Nothing. Not even decent tariffs.

Even with this taken into account, it’s doubtful that Vodaphone would get the company anyway. Purchasing T-Mobile would give them a 40% market share. I would expect that competition regulators would have something to say about this.
