Has Twitter Got Too Big For Itself?

I was really excited that I actually managed to post something new on my blog that I thought I’d Twitter about it. Being on the PC I thought I’d use the web interface as opposed to the Blackberry, a text message or any of the myriad applications that are available.

It would seem I made the wrong choice:

As I have reduced the image to fit the page you can’t read the text in light grey letters. It says

Too many tweets! Please wait a moment and try again

So, has Twitter finally got too big for itself? I know that Stephen Fry (@stephenfry) has over 300,000 followers and I am sure that others have similar numbers. Right now the website is very broken, page layout is screwed and it’s taking an age to load.

But hey, it’s still the best type of this service (even if you include Facebook!) on the ‘nets.
