Well, That was an effort!
It’s done. I’m moved. I have lost a couple of settings, a couple of comments – Sorry Andy and Jody – and not everything’s right yet.
The process:
- Switch the nameserver for the two domains (this one and Mini Mini Mini).
- Install the latest version of WordPress on both domains.
- Import posts, plugins and themes from the backups.
Sounds easy right? for Mini Mini Mini it couldn’t have been easier.
This install was a complete nightmare. I had to run the WXR (WordPress eXtended RSS) backup import seven times for it to pull all the posts in. Then I decided to move the application files from a subfolder to the root and broke the lot.
So I started again. The whole bloody process! Oh well, we’re here now.
Next job is to have a play with Habari finish updating the Fareham West Scouts website.
Having taken it on I installed Joomla! and then got completely lost trying to create content. It’s getting there now and having remembered how to use Joomla! the basic structure is in place. I need to put lots of data in and speak to the District to find out what else they want there.
After that, it’s time to attack the Mini Club website. Daze is far too busy with work to do it and although the content is ok, the theme (hand coded!) is three years old and there’s bits and pieces that need changed. I might install Joomla! over there too. Then I can attack the forum. Freeloaders on the forum are annoying many many people at the moment and along with updating the software to the latest version I am going to (with the agreement of the Committee) make most of the forum available only to paid up members of the club.
Then I might get to play with Habari.
It’s a good job I’m on leave for six days!
