Slap Me, For I Am Stupid!
I have been looking for a way to update my Facebook status from my mobile phone. Remembering that I can text Twitter I added the Twitter Application for Facebook and voila!
So, how do I get the facebook status onto this ere blog? I know, let’s Google for the answer. So I did. The search term was
facebook status on wordpress blog
Which returned a number of results, like it always does.
It’s ok, I’ll wait while you go look. When you do though, take special note of result number three. Yes, that’s my blog on WordPress.com. Yes, I wrote a guide on how to do it. Yes, I had completely forgotten!
The response from my wife was “you twat!”
On a different note, I am looking for a new host. Reasons I don’t want to go into but must be cheapish, not necessarily UK based but must have PHP5 and PDO enabled. I am looking at A Small Orange but would like to hear any other recommendations too. I need to have the whole hosting moved before 01 November so I have time before my next hosting payment is due. Any suggestions?

A Small Orange is the company I use and I’ve been generally very happy with them. I use their ‘Tiny’ plan, which only costs $25 a year. If you need more than the 3GB bandwidth or 75MB disc space the ‘Tiny’ offers, why not also take a look at Hosting Unlimited (http://www.hosting-unlimited.net) which is the company we use at work. They use the same basic infrastructure, but have different plans; their ‘Standard’ is £22.95 a year and is a big step up from A Small Orange’s ‘Tiny’.
I’ve used both of these firms for quite some time now and have never had any serious issues with either. Small Orange’s servers went through a period a few weeks ago where they were down intermittantly, but never for very long, and sometimes Hosting Unlimited take longer than I would like to answer queries but that’s about it. Compared to Business Serve/Legend/Thus/Demon which is another ISP I have used at work, both A Small Orange and Hosting Unlimited are excellent.
