Music on MySpace

I may have mentioned (pre-database faux-pas) that I hate MySpace.

I make no bones about it, I can’t stand the crap designs on most peoples’ “pages” and the bullshit emo and truly awful spelling and grammar1 that are evident.

However, just occasionally I get reminded of the decent side of MySpace. The music that’s available. Yes, there’s crap there too but most of the bigger artists can be found, often with links and friends who are quite awesome.

Let’s take an example as Jody Schneider who sent me an email the other day to let me know her new EP Undrastic is available to listen to.

Jody’s friends show up as Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah McLachlan and Regina Spektor amongst others. I had only heard of Sarah M (because she rocks!) but a quick listen was all I needed to know they were awesome. If you get a minute or two, click through and have a listen to Better by Regina Spektor.

As soon as I had more than 7 seconds to spare (rare right now!) I got to a PC with speakers and clicked through to listen to Jody’s EP. Wow! Jody - you’re still awesome! Right up there with the best of them, I still want to know how I can legally obtain your music in all its glory.

A big hattip to Trent for introducing me to Jody’s music many months ago and to Jody for letting me know the single is available.

  1. I got called a spelling Nazi today. Absolutely!

    Hey there!
The album is now available on digstation.com, and will soon be on iTunes (thought I get a lot less profit from iTunes, so use digstation if you can!). If neither of those will work on your side of the pond (I still haven’t quite figured out what is downloadable where), let me know and I’ll be glad to drop one in the mail for you!
