Expanding The Beginners Photography
Whilst I have at least one post ready to go (which will be published next Thursday) i am wondering how to expand the “series”.
The intention at the moment is to cover the following topics (not an exhaustive list and in no particular order):
- Intro to DSLr cameras and lenses
- Flash guns
- Studio photography
- Meanings acronyms and other photography terms
- Aperture and shutter speed - how they relate and what they do
- Framing and the rule of thirds
- Depth of field
- RAW, JPEG, TIFF and the differences
- Post-processing using Photoshop/Elements/GIMP
Anything else I should cover? Photographing particular subjects? Remember that this is supposed to be a beginners’ tutorial series. Although the explanations and tasks may get harder I want to try and keep the language as simple as possible. Doesn’t mean that the seasoned photographer can’t join in though! Certainly it will help any beginners if more tips can be offered and I hope that I can learn something too! I might even ask one or two of my photographic buddies if they care to make a guest post on a particular subject. Daze? Flash filters?
I had a thought that perhaps I could also set a weekly task - one or more photographs on a set theme or with a certain accomplishment in mind. Perhaps posted to a specific Flickr group or images on photobucket and linked back in comments. As much as anything this might spur me on to get the camera out more often! Any suggestions for tasks would be much appreciated and no judgement or critique on a photo would be given unless specifically asked for!

As someone who has to take a lot of shots of products every time we update the range at work, when you get to studio photograpghy I’d like to see you give some in-depth coverage to the proper way to light the subject. We’ve come up with a way that seems to work, but I’d like to know how it’s supposed to be done. :-)
