A Different Photoshop Colour-Pop Effect

VignetteI was playing with Photoshop, trying to create a vignette similar to the very modern style you see on wedding photos. It’s also used pretty heavily in the UK motoring shows Top Gear and Fifth Gear. Donncha uses it too! I couldn’t be bothered to go searching the web for it so thought I would have a play. The result is what you see on the left.

Part ColourHowever, that’s not what this post is about. Something I did find while playing was a different way to highlight a part of a picture in colour and easily de-saturate the rest, as seen in the photo on the right. I’m not convinced that it will work for all photos, but I don’t think it looks too bad! Yes, I know I could just use a mask and “paint” the colour bits back in, but I quite like the fade with this effort.

If there’s any interest in the method for the above effects, leave a comment and I will put something together.

Nice vignette on the first shot. All you need now is a fancy sports car to get that authentic Top Gear look on the racetrack!

Donncha.

Thanks! Indeed, a nice sports car would be great. Unfortunately the nice sports cars are all owned by the guy up the road and he’s very protective of them. Won’t let me borrow one for the afternoon for photographic purposes at all. :(
