Limitation Of Thunderbird eMail Client

So, apparently Thunderbird can only handle about 2000 (yes, two thousand) emails in one folder.

I get a little slack in clearing out old emails and getting a little fed up with the time it takes to load the inbox I thought I’d sit here for a few minutes and clear the old guff out. Forum notifications – replies, new members and private messages, blog responses and contact along with the private emails and silly stuff that everyone receives, nothing is sacred.

I have spent about 20 minutes trying to delete mails now. The client is crashing, hanging and not showing the messages. Still, I much prefer it the the major alternative of Outlook. Before you mention it, Incredimail is not an email client, it’s a pile of shit that should never have been launched, let alone left to fester for so long without the developers being shot!

If I were graded for my housekeeping I would probably get a D- with “must try harder” written in 24 point Ariel.

Oops…

Update: Oops again. The above may be entirely untrue. In a magnificient display of stupidity I went to check on the Thunderbird website for updates. Version 2.04 available. Let’s see what I’m running…. 1.002. Not any more!

Hi Cornell

I use Thunderbird (2.0.0.4) at work and routinely access, search, delete and sometimes even read messages in a technical mailing list spanning four years containing 7087, sorry 7078 messages.

Without a single problem.

Nice! Thanks for the info Andy. As it happens, having updated to the latest version I am certain that Thunderbird is faster. I think the limitation now is my crappy home PC.

I so wish I could user Thunderbird and Firefox at work. Security restrictions say a very big NO!

I personally dont think thunderbird is all that bad. I have had more problems with Outlook than anything.
Here is a simple tutorial for those wanting to set it up. http://vwpost.com/how-to-set-up-thunderbird-email/
