When Buying on eBay sucks

I bid for and won a copy of Burnout Dominator on 03 May 2007. Yesterday I emailed the guy to find out what the delay was and why I hadn’t received it.

The reply was just “oh yeah, sorry mate, it went in the post yesterday (meaning the 8th)”.

Fair enough. I got home from work today and there it was in a jiffy bag on the side waiting for me. With some enthusiasm I ripped it open. Shite. It’s the PSP version, not the PS2 version I thought it was.

Checking the listing It mentioned nothing about being the PSP version. The description:

BURNOUT DOMINATOR

WITH INSTRUCTIONS

Good huh! On closer inspection I saw that it does in fact mention that it’s the PSP version, although it’s buried in all the gumph that eBay puts in there. Fair enough, I should have looked closer.

In annoyance I threw it back in the Jiffy bag. Then I noticed that the postage charge was 70 pence. Hang on, I paid £3.50 for postage. You thieving piece of scum sucking donkey piss. I have called you some names that I can’t write on here. I will continue to do so until they day you die. I have you marked. I suspect that you are a 14 year old 1337 geek who thinks you know best. Here, have lots of negative feedback you steaming loaf of inbred chavscum.

Damn, yes that is annoying. I have steered clear of private sellers on ebay now, I use power sellers and shops now.

It is rare to find a seller who actually charges the price of postage on ebay. it’s where they make there profit I imagine.

I just bought a very expensive item on ebay and payed no postage on it. eBay 80% of the time is awesome :)

Sorry you got tricked.

Two things:

1. When I sell on Ebay, I always charge slightly over the odds for items I sell with no reserve – this way, I at least make a quid on an item if it should happen to go for peanuts. Maybe £3.50 is a little excessive though.

2. You’ve left him negative feedback? Well done, ’cause now he’ll do the same for you!

Nothing wrong with private sellers (I’m a private seller with 100% feedback), as long as they have half decent feedback (above 97%), and even if they don’t, you can normally get a good idea of them by their grasp of the english language…

1. It’s wrong. I’m sorry, but it is. If you sell an item with no reserve and it goes for peanuts then deal with it. An item is only ever worth what someone will pay for it. Cover your postage by all means but don’t hike the postage.

2. And? I don’t intend in the near future to sell stuff so where’s the problem? It’s all recorded and I can respond to the negative feedback that he leaves explaining it anyway.

Nope, don’t have a problem with private sellers, most of the stuff’s great. A 500% price hike on the postage is more than a little excessive.

Oh, I agree completely that charging £3.50 for a PSP game is ridiculous. I charge a little over the odds also because I usually send everything in a jiffy bag, and they ain’t free.

Well, sometimes they are, if you know what I mean…

why are winging pigs always moaning about somthing you cant change, ebay was set up to rip people off, always has and always will. from april 25th you wont be able to sell anything on there without offering paypal [ robbing bastards] as prefered payment, so ebay you can kiss my ass goodbye, and millions like me.going to cq a much better and cheaper auction site.
