Tagged – The Christmas Questions

I got tagged by Chris to answer a few fun Christmas questions. So:

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?

Hot Choccy every time. I’m allergic to nog. I’m not allergic to eggs though.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?

Santa is an evil doer along with the Easter Bunny. Both promote the consumption of far too much chocolate.

3. Colored Light on Tree/House or White?

Even the thought of putting lights on the outside of my home scares the bejeezus out of me. Most likely they will get stolen within about 9 minutes of my erecting them. We had a plant stolen from the ground once so decorations externally are an easy target. On the tree however the lights are white (and pre-fitted). I hate putting the lights on the tree!

4. Do you hang mistletoe?

No, it only gets as far as my knees.

5. When do you put your decorations up?

Whenever my wife can be arsed. This year is the first time in three years that we’ve put a tree up. We were worried about the dogs. A worry that is apparently unfounded as the dogs have completely ignored the tree. Apart from the occasional nudge of a bauble that is. I think they like watching them swing. I’m never getting naked around my dogs again!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

It would have to be a nice roast beef dinner. I am not a great fan of turkey, chicken, overboiled cabbage or cranberry sauce. Sprouts are something that only mothers like. It’s true. Neither my cousin or my friend liked sprouts. They had children and now they admit that they like sprouts. I have never met a man that likes sprouts.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?

Shoving the fairy on top of the tree. That was always fun!

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

You mean the true evil of the fat red one? Last Tuesday.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

No. It spoils the surprise.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?

Lights, baubles, fir cones. You know, the usual stuff. We can’t leave presents or anything underneath. The dogs would take a fancy and remove them for their own purposes. Normally death by teeth marks…

11. Snow. Love it or dread it?

Both. I love looking at the purity of un-disturbed snow and hate the thought of having to drive in it. Thankfully I don’t drive very far, it’s only three miles to work, all through slow moving commuter traffic.

12. Can you ice skate?

Yes. I can roller skate too. I am crap on a skateboard though.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

No. I am that fickle that I can’t remember what I got last Christmas, let alone what was my favourite gift.

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas to you?

Friends and family. Next…

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?

Brandy butter. It doesn’t even have to be with the main dessert, on its own is good enough for me.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Going to bed early on Christmas eve. The big day arrives quicker then!

17. What tops your tree?

Nothing.

18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?

Is it tacky to say both? I like to think that people will love the gifts they receive, irrelevant of value. I do love getting “stuff” though! ;)

19. What is your favorite Christmas song?

Frieheit – Keeping The Dream Alive. Although it’s not really a Christmas song in my mind, it was just released at Christmas. For a true Christmas tune it has to be Jonah Lewie’s Stop The Cavalry.
