Mafia – The Game

Whilst random blog hopping this afternoon I happened across a party game called “Mafia” or “Werewolf”. Essentially it’s a game for seven or more players where two are “Mafia”You know, the Italian bad guys! and the rest are innocent Townspeople.

The aim of the game is to have two phases:

1. The Day phase where everybody decides through suspicion, discussion and accusation who should be “lynched” in the hope that they kill one of the Mafia members.

2. The Night phase where the Mafia choose an innocent and kill them.

The game ends when either there are no Mafia left or the number of Mafia is equivalent to the number of innocents.

I found a great explanation of the game here. This version is called “Werewolf”, but it’s essentially the same thing.

With not much more digging I found one of a number of places that plays the game online. Mafia Scum claims to be I haven’t looked at the others yet! the largest forum to play the game.

Apart from a quick sojourn to Sainsbury’s to do the shopping I have spent most of the evening reading threads for the game. It’s certainly an interesting place to be. As if I didn’t have enough hobbies and projects already, I have signed up and volunteered for a “Newbie” game to see if I can get the hang of it without pissing anyone off or making a complete arse of myself. Once I have a game to play I will post the link so you can all laugh at me. I am Mr Finch on the forum by the way!
