Bystander mentions the case of a blind man driving around the West Midlands:
A man who guided a blind man as he drove a car around Oldbury, West Midlands, was jailed for nine months. Dlear Ahmed, a 21-year-old Iraqi, admitted aiding and abetting dangerous driving. The driver, Omed Aziz, 31, of Darlaston, West Midlands, was given a 12-week suspended prison sentence and three-year ban.
Fair enough the “passenger” the passenger got nine months, but why bother giving a blind man a three year ban?
Surely that’s no better than giving a repeat offending TWOCer 14 year old boy a three year driving ban? Both sentences (to my mind) are completely pointless. The blind driver knows he shouldn’t be driving and the 14 year old is three years under age.
I can’t suggest what would be a more appropriate punishment for the driver, but the courts have certainly made better decisions.
