Lorelle’s Blogging Challenges

Lorelle is starting a new series of blogging challenges.

Each week, give or take, I will be posting a new blogging challenge for all you bloggers. They will range from writing about a specific subject or topic to cleaning up your blog and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques. Some will be just plain fun and giggles, and others will rock your world so hard your brain will slosh.

Whilst they sound interesting, I’m a little concerned about the possibility of “SEO techniques. It’s not something I have previously worried about or looked into.

Lorelle is a member of the 9Rules network. 9Rules highlights consistently high quality blogging and Lorelle certainly meets those criteria. Her blog is all about blogging, writing, blog technology and techniques along with the occasional anecdote.

Anyone is able to play the blogging challenge, but even if (as a blogger) you don’t want to play you should go read her blog regularly.

Thanks for the plug. You don’t have to play with the SEO blogging challenges, Cornell, if you don’t want to, but you might learn something “gently” about your blog and yourself in the process. That’s the fun of the challenge. There will be writing challenges, brain teasers, and even a treasure hunt or two.

It’s a wide open field peeled from the imagination of Lorelle. STAND BACK! PREPARE TO BE DAZZLED! THRILLED! CHILLED! AMAZED!

Hmmm……somebody is writing a blog about blogging and all things blog-related……………..

……………..is it just me, or does that strike anybody else as a totally f*cking stupid and pointless exercise?

No offence, Lorelle. I don’t mean to be rude. I just use my blog to talk b*ll*cks about my life and stuff.

I can appreciate the use of having a site that talks about blogs and helps others to improve their blogs and blogging skills.

I can also appreciate the occasional blog entry about the blog, and any trouble it causes, or improvements you have made, blah, blah, etc, etc.

But to blog almost exclusively about blogging, is like buying a new keyboard and only typing on it “this is a keyboard. It has letters painted on the keys, and when i touch them, the corresponding letter appears on the screen” and cr*p like that. To use it for nothing else is a waste, and makes you wonder why you got it in the first place!

Dave

Go look at Lorelle’s blog.

Some of the stuff that I have shown you in the past few months Lorelle talks about in detail.

Bear in mind that it’s not Lorelle’s main blog.

Lorelle’s “philosophy” (much like mine and yours with Scouting) is that she has a skill that someone else might have. She likes to share that skill. The skill is blogging, web technology and the like. Many many people read her blog every day. I have learnt from it, and I think you could too!

Ah, if it’s not her main blog, then that changes things totally.

Apologies for jumping to conclusions!

I thought of a better analogy for the previous statement than the keyboard cr*pola.

It ‘d be like buying a camera and using it exclusively for taking photographs of other cameras.

….much better!

Actually, there are people who specialize in taking photographs of other cameras with their own cameras. You see their work in many photography magazines, and pay to see it. ;-)

I happen to specialize in WordPress and writing, which converts to blogging. I enjoy sharing my expertise with others. Don’t you?

If you want to know about how to fix your car, you certainly aren’t going to go to a website about making candy, are you? Or to a medical website? Sure, the body is a machine, and you drive it, but it’s just not the same.

You go to the expert. I hope that people come to my blog because they want to learn more about the art and skill that goes into blogging. Just as I would go to your blog to learn more about the art and skill of…b*ll*cks. ;-)

I’m lucky enough to have several blogs, any of which could be called my “main site”, depending upon which of my expertises you want to learn from me. I understand my audience for each topic and write for their needs as well as mine. Don’t you?

I would say that your “Main Site” is Camera On The Road, but then they’re the only two of yours I know about!

Indeed, I go to Dave’s site to learn about the art of b*ll*cks too! ;)
