Just nod and smile

Heather-Anne a few weeks ago posted this:

go to work and I keep a big smile on my face all day. I give very little information about my life to my co-workers. They ask how my weekend was and I smile and say “Good. Nothing happened and that’s always good.”

But behind my plastic smile and generic answers is a lonely girl who really needs a friend. I just wish someone would take the time and ask how I really am and offer something more than superficial niceties.

Ok, I’m not a girl. Ok my plastic smile is more of a frown normally, but I understand how you feel. There are so many people out there that are the same. In two years the only people that know my circumstances and care enough to ask how I am (and not how my wife is) are my parents and Pam. Pam needs no more introduction, you know who you are and I thank you most sincerely.

Heather-Anne – I hope you’ll get to read this and know that you aren’t alone. I would have put this as a comment on your blog but you turn the comments off :(

Thank you.

Yeah, I have the comments turn off after two weeks to help reduce spam. But your pingback showed up in the comment. :)

:o)

Hey …you’re a friend and friends mean a lot to me. I like to check you are ok because I know how much life can suck at times. It’s always a bit easier when you know someone out there is looking out for you.

I too have perfected the fake smile.. so I know what that’s like.
